The first mention of the mine found was 1936, when it had produced only 16.25 tonnes of ore for 6.05 ounces of gold.

Clutha Development Company (a subsidiary of Placer Development Company) took an option over the mine in 1939. It then purchased the lease the following year, however its timing was not great, considering the Federal Government placed an embargo over mining in 1942. Also in 1940, Kevin Miles (25), Ted Griggs (40), and Joe English (27) were seriously hurt underground when English struck with his pick a dynamite charge, which then exploded. Overall the Tennant Creek Goldfield was relatively safe from deaths and injuries with mining compared to Western Australia.

After the war, Merloo Gold NL took over the lease, but could not explore it due to a lack of experienced drillers. It claimed all ore reserves had been exhausted by 1952, and left. Apex Gold Mines NL took an option over the mine in 1954.

Normandy Tennant Creek Pty Ltd was granted the lease in 1999, the company purchased by Giants Reef Mining in 2001. None of this appears to amount to a great deal of mining. A 1965 source states the total produced by the mine to that point was 760 ounces of gold.

The country rock is greywacke, siltstone and shale, containing several isolated ironstone outcrops, the mine within a Fe impregnated steep dipping shear, on an east-west trending anticline. Modat claims columbite at the site, although no research so far has mentioned the species in the district.

The mine site is 19 kilometres east south-east of Tennant Creek, and can be accessed by heading north north-east from the Nobles Nob open pit. The location is on flats at the base of an isolated area of low ridges. It appears to consist of a shaft, and small mullock pile, with bulldozer scrapings to the east.
