The Comstock gold mine is approximately 30 kilometres south-east of Tennant Creek and between 500 metres to 2 kilometres north of the Gosse River Road just east where it changes from heading east to east south-east. Modern exploration companies combine the two locations as Comstock-Flag. The latter is about one kilometre north-west of Comstock. The whole area is a maze of exploration tracks and numerous small bulldozed areas, south of a north-west to south-east trending ridge.

No historic or geology information could be found. One source which visited the mine site for Comstock in the 1990's, states there were several shallow shafts 'chasing gold seams that went no-where'. It further indicates the location contains mining relics, and a reminder here that removal of such items in many parts of Australia is illegal. Due to the wide area of modern workings, the Mindat map is approximate.
