Veins of milky white opal potch, with no indication of colour, on or near the surface at least, in cleaved siltstone, and altered volcanics of the Warramunga Group. When inspected in 1990, the workings consisted of a 3 metre deep, east trending costean.
The source (Benger, J.W. 1990), gives no further details including location. A map however states there is an 'opal mine' about 5 kilometres north-east of the Mosquito Creek wolfram field. The likely location was found on satellite images, 500 metres north-west of the track. Mindat map approximate.
