Probably named after Allan A. Davidson, who explored the area around 1900, discovering several sub-economic gold prospects.
The site is 200 metres north of a conical hill, to the north of the Kurundi-Epenarra (Wuntunugurra) Road, about 10 kilometres east of the Kurundi homestead. A track to the mine leaves the road just after the Kudinga Creek crossing. After 200 metres along this track, turn right onto a track for another 200 metres. The site is presently a partly rehabilitated bulldozed area immediately north of the hill (satellite evidence indicates the shafts remain).
The site contained two collapsed shafts, 5 metres apart, and two small costeans when inspected in 1989. The western costean exposed a 50 cm thick quartz vein, dipping south 30 degrees, some of the quartz strongly box worked, although no pyrite was seen. Whether any gold was found here is open to question, although the box works could be an indication of minor riches at depth.
