This location is unconfirmed, being from oral accounts only, and therefore has no reference. Please update Mindat with information. While described as 'Glen Helen Amethyst', the site is apparently 30 kilometres west of the Glen Helen Resort, although it could be argued it is on the Glen Helen Station (the homestead even further away). Geographically it is closest to Redbank Gorge.

Stated as 11 kilometres west of the Redbank Gorge turn-off, a faint track heads north from Namatjira Drive, across a dry creek, and 0.7 kilometres to the diggings. The last 300 metres is rough going, but could be walked.

Amethyst as thick veins in quartz-sandstone, the gemstone varying from violet to dark purple. Crystals are commonly elongated with irregular surfaces and terminations. No information is available at present over the amount and quality of the material, but it is generally not seen for sale as specimens.

When researching this entry, someone on the internet had six light purple very average small lumps of amethyst for sale labelled as 'Glen Helen Amethyst'.

The Mindat map is a suggestion only based on the above directions, and satellite images.
