The Gecko prospect is about 5 kilometres south-west of Sliding Rock Hill. Discovered by Central Pacific Minerals NL around 1971. Pb-Zn prospect with minor Cu.
The location contains a small pit of malachite stained gossanous calc-silicate outcrop of schistose biotite-chlorite-muscovite-carbonate-quartz rock. Gossan flank lenses of garnetiferous meta-quartzite along the contact with biotite gneisses, and fine grained amphibolite. There is complex and tight folding at the site. The garnet-quartzite is intensely recrystallised, with localised decomposed amphibolite and pyrite in the quartzite. Lenses of marble are noted, one to three metres thick.
Mineralisation is hosted by hematite-actinolite-quartz-magnetite, with malachite staining. There are several zones of disseminated pyrite. Ore is of a low grade otherwise, with patchy mineralisation in a structural complex zone. Galena and sphalerite is possible but the sources are silent.
Testing in 1971 found best values of 7.8% Zn, 1.42% Pb, 0.5% Cu. Central Pacific state the site contains no gold, while Roebuck Resources later did claim gold at the site.
