Köppen climate type:
Mica mine. Located on the southern most of two low hills, approximately 5 kilometres south of the Plenty Highway. No tracks could be seen to the location. Satellite images still show the three shafts, and two pits, surrounded by mica dumps. It also indicates potentially several other very small workings on the northern hill, and within a one kilometre radius north and to the east.
Three shafts have been historically sunk on the hanging wall of the pegmatite, the shafts reaching 19, 18 and 26 feet deep. There are also two large open cuts (although probably much eroded since inspected in 1962), and more prospecting shafts to the east and west down to a maximum of 60 feet.
The pegmatite reaches 26 feet thick, and 120 feet long, with a well defined hanging wall which follows the joint plane in the gneiss. The pegmatite contains an irregular quartz core, 4-5 feet thick, with some muscovite and feldspar being plentiful and of good quality. The footwall is irregular. Rochow in 1962 states there are several pegmatites in the vicinity.
