Group of Prospects
Köppen climate type:
Discovered by Mark Killeen in 1929, during the rush immediately after Tom Hanlon's copper discovery earlier in the year, 5 kilometres to the north. Killeen tried to interest the Mount Isa Mines Company to take over the deposit, without success, and by 1932 had abandoned the prospect.
The prospects are 500 metres south-east of the Bellbird Mine, and 500 metres west of the Rockhole prospect, in the southern portion of the J shaped syncline, which holds most of the major mines in this area. The Killeen prospects contain a copper dominant deposit, and about 200 metres north a zinc dominant deposit.
