Huge deposit of ancient metallurgical slags near the village of Misérègne, at the mouth of Clavalitè Valley.

The deposit, on which the NE part of the village has been built, occupies an area of at least 4,500 m2. It is locally known as Ferrùn (i.e. iron slag), a toponym already reported in a document dated 1332 (Di Gangi, 1999; Castello, 2000). Radiocarbon dating of two pieces of carbonized wood enclosed in two slag pieces, provided after calibration the age of 370-290 BC and 200-100 BC, respectively (which predate the Roman conquest of Aosta Valley, dated 25 BC). To date, these metallurgical slags are the oldest ever found in Aosta Valley (Toffolo, 2012-13; Toffolo et al., 2012).
