The trachytic Monte Rusta (396 m) shows a typical conical shape. A large abandoned trachyte quarry is located at the western foot of Monte Rusta near Santa Lucia village. The quarry has yielded the best specimens of amethyst from the Euganean Hills.

Tiny crystals of colourless quartz, cristobalite, quartz paramorph after tridymite, and true tridymite can also be found in other small quarries and trachyte outcrops along the slopes of Monte Rusta.
