Historic gold mine.
Worked intermittently from 1894-1908. The Alpha Gold Mining Company was formed to work it, and erected a 20 stamp battery on Kathleen Stream. Crushings began in 1899 for poor results, producing 965 tonnes of ore for 625 ounces of gold.
In 1908, the Durbar Gold Mining Company took over part of the claim, mining 100 tonnes of ore from the upper levels, then selling the claim to the Komata Mining Company. Another 10 tonnes of ore was then sent to the Day Dawn and Norfolk battery at Thames, producing 50 ounces of gold. A further 83 tonnes of ore was mined in 1909.
The mine remained idle until 1933, when 1,158 tonnes of ore was mined for 947 ounces of gold. The foundations of the battery remain.
