Historic gold mine.
Located to the south of the Triumph gold mine, on the western side of the Tairua River.
J. Agnew successfully floated the Tairua Conqueror Gold Mining Company mid 1908. William Webb is appointed mine manager. For the next six months mine manager reports are littered with terms like encouraging, promising, and success confidently anticipated. In 1909, the lease was amalgamated into the Tairua Monarch Consolidated Mine.
The lode is described as quartz stringers, with a broken Footwall, and more defined Hanging Wall, hosted by rhyolite. Gold appears to be in short supply at the site.
