Historic coal mine. A shaft was sunk one mile north of the Ralphs Mine, called the Taupiri Extension. This is essentially what is was- an extension of the workings in the Ralph Mine, and more information can be found under this Mindat location. It was historically viewed as a separate mine. The Mindat co-ordinates are approximate. Several buildings have been abandoned in the area due to subsidence as old underground workings collapse.
