Very interesting locality.
As one continues East from Axmouth along the coast, the upper sequence of the Triassic is clearly visible.
Near the top of the Triassic sequence a dark band can be traced and within this band there is another band of Orange/White Strontium rich nodular Calcite.
The Calcitic band contains vugs and cavities filled with balls of strontianite and occasionally nice deep blue crystals of Celestite.
A short way above this band, there is another band of creamy, grey argillaceous marl.
Within this band, there are tiny perfect octrahedrons of Galena as well as occasional Sphalerite and fine wisps of a bright green mineral yet to be identified.
It is however important to remember that this location is part of a national nature reserve and therefor hammering or excavating into the cliffs is strictly forbidden.
