Wadi Abu Fas is mainly covered by ophiolitic rocks, island arc-related assemblages and syntectonic granodiorite. The ophiolitic rocks comprise serpentinites and layered metagabbros. Serpentinites show severe alteration along thrust and shear zones leading to the development of listvenite. Listvenites occur as ridges up to several hundred meters long and up to 20 m wide. Irregular lenses (up to 5 m long) of listvenites are also observed parallel to the regional foliation and shear zones.
