The volcano is of late Quaternary age and its craton is approximately 1.5km in diameter. Perlite is mined at the external parts of the craton (Fyriplaka mine).

According to Balić-Žunić et al. (2016), fumaroles, solfataras, and hot grounds are associated with the volcano and where gas emanations are very high, the soils are altered and covered with thin layers of secondary minerals as alunite, magnesite, and sulphur.
