An intrusion of orbicular diorite or “corsite”, exploited for ornamental stone. Location and mining status guessed.

An orbicular diorite (variety of orbiculite) has been mined 2 km south of Santa Lucia di Tallano, at the edge of the path leading to the pass between Monte Piano Maggiore and Punta Campolaggia. It occupies the top of the ravine, which descends from the pass towards Fiumicicoli. The deposit is also indicated with accuracy on the "Corse-Sud" map on 1/1 00000 National Geographic Institute.

This deposit is embedded in a medium-grained monzogranite. Two types of orbicules are known:

- multishell orbicules (the core is jacketed with alternating layers of plagioclases and amphiboles);

- simple orbicules (the core is jacketed with a single plagioclase shell and sometimes an outer amphibole shell).

This particular rock, locally named "petra ucchjata", is also known under the name "corsite" or "napoleonite".
