Köppen climate type:
Quartz geodes occurrences in, or weathered out from, Jurassic-Palaeogene strata.
Geodes consist either of milky quartz or of chalcedony. The milky quartz type contain characteristic anhydrite inclusions and it is suggested that the geodes resulted from a replacement of original anhydrite nodules by silica. The typical chalcedonic or cauliflower-like geodes consist of chalcedony and coarse quartz; in their central cavities, calcite crystals are sometimes found.
