Old Victoria was located about ¼ mile northeast of the Victoria mine. It was a village of about 80 homes, a school and a general store all owned by the mining company. It was most active between 1899 and 1921 when the miners were paid 1 dollar for a 10 hour day. Several of the old log buildings have been restored by the Society for the Restoration of Old Victoria. “It is now one of the Keweenaw Heritage Sites in the Keweenaw National Historical Park.”
