This is a Mn mining area located at the North end of the Bighorn Mountains, from 12 to 16 miles S of Aguila. It lies at an altitude of from 2,000 to 2,500 feet.

The Bighorn Mountains are composed of Pre-Cambrian granite, gneiss and schist overlain by Tertiary lava flows, which, in the northern part of the mountains are dominantly red biotite andesite. Most of the manganese deposits occur in the lava flows, but some occur as veins in granite and schist.

This district produced about 2,500 tons of ore at 35% Mn (to May, 1918).
