An old copper mine, which worked a copper-bearing baryte vein from an open cut on the summit of Hinkelstein mountain, northwest of Balzenbach. The workings are backfilled and the dumps have been landscaped.
The deposit consists of a single vein that is hosted in granodiorite and forms a ridge along the summit of the mountain. The structure of the vein, in which baryte alternates with layers of iron and manganese oxides, can still be studied in a protected outcrop. Collecting here is strictly prohibited.
