The pluton extends over an area of c. 40km² and is emplaced into Precambrian amphibolite, granite, gneiss and gabbro. The intrusion is poorly exposed and comprises a range of syenites, with quartz syenite dominant in the north, hornblende syenite in the south, an arc of fayalite-bearing syenites along the southern margin and relatively small areas of hornblende-clinopyroxene syenite and nepheline syenite lying within the quartz syenite.
