Qal'eh Hasan Ali

A group of maar craters clustered around village of Qa'le Hasan Ali, with 2 others lying 10 and 15 km to the NE, were originally thought to have impact origin, but Milton (1977) showed that they are in fact phreatomagmatic.
The largest known as Great Crater is circular and has a diameter of c.1200m and a depth of 200-300m. The others vary from circular to irregular in outline with diameters of 150-1000m and depths up to 80m.
Age: probably late Quaternary, based on the degree of erosion (Milton, 1977).
