Pleistocene–Holocene sediments, that have alternating stratified calcareous sandstone (locally named as Kurkar) and red-brown layers (locally named as Hamra), in the Sheikh Ejlin and Al Montar ridges.
Samples from Kurkar layers, collected at a site (31° 25.07’ N, 34° 19.75’) on the Sheikh Ejlin Ridge near Deir al-Balah, have been studied by Zaineldeen (2010).
