Over 70 plugs that define a roughly circular area c. 50 km across, although there are some some minor outlying volcanoes and flows (Veevers et al. 1964; Stephenson 1989).
Alluvial deposits of sapphires and zircons are abundant in the area and have been mined. They probably derive from the plugs because Stephenson (1976) reported that sapphire megacrysts and a sapphire-anorthoclase xenolith in basalt from Mt Leura.
