Structure: Wichita Mountains Glen Mountains
Alteration: Malachite And Azurite From Veins In Troctolite, In Granite Wash, 20 Ft Thick In Hennessey Group
Tectonics: Aulacogen
Commodity: Chase (1950a) is source for reference to copper veins in gravel pits.
Deposit: Discovery year: 1901? for prospect pits; 1940-1950 for gravel pits weathered granite wash and troctolite wash. Chase (1950a, p. 44-48, 73-75, 87) describes the magnetite veins in the troctolite; with picture. Bain (1904, p. 89) describes two prospect pits, one of which is probably shown on quadrangle map. Mayes (1947, p. 9-10) has last drive claim near c-ne-7, just s. Of glen creek, which would be n. Of this area. Rodebush (1936) has 2 pits within the area in n2-ne-sw-7.
Development: Under development status, 2, inactive prospect should also be checked. The pits are used for road gravel. Copper was never produced. Bain (1904, p. 89) mentions two old prospect pits in sec. 7 but gives no precise locations. The samples were collected by capt. Andre W jackson meers and said to contain copper. The last drive claim was located near c-ne-7 by mayes (1947, p. 9-10) s. Of glen creek.
Geology: Spencer (1961) discusses the geology. Chase (1950a) also discusses the geology.
