A former small underground Cu-Ag-Au-Pb-Zn-U mine located in the NE ¼ sec. 21, T.20S., R.7E., on land of unknown status. Produced 1900-1956. Owned at times, or in part, by Grijalba; Amado; Verduzco; Bustamonte; Papago Chief Mines; Griscom Mining Co.; Papago Chief Copper; Owens & Freeland; and, O'Dell & Mears.
Mineralization is corsely-crystalline quartz-calcite veins with partly oxidized base metal sulfides along fault-fissures cutting partly metamorphosed Cretaceous sedimentary beds cut by numerous granite and diorite dikes. Wall rocks are silicified and sericitized. Gold and silver values are enriched in the shallow ozidized and weathered zone. Minor metatorbernite is associated with the other copper minerals.
Workings include tunnel and shaft operations. Vein exposure of 3,000 feet (960 meters) with a series of cross cut trenches. The workings are 198.12 meters in length and 30.48 meters deep (depth and length of workings as of 1943). Probably originally prospected and worked superficially in the 1800's. Intermittent production occurred from the early 1900's to 1956, and amounted to some 4,500 tons of ore averaging about 2% Cu, 5.6 oz. Ag/T, 0.04 oz. Au/T and minor Pb.
