Ruby Mountain is a topaz rhyolite emplacement located about one mile northeast of Nathrop Colorado. The site containing the most minerals is the west slope. There are public and private portions of the mountain and it is reported the private side was accessible to collectors for a small fee, however, the site has been sold and the new owner now prohits collecting. The public side is part of the Brown’s Canyon National Monument. Since being upgraded to a National Monument, rockhounding is no longer permitted.

Some garnet crystals can still be found on the slopes in the publicly accessible areas and perhaps with some work an area containing topaz and other minerals can be found.

Probably named in error for the garnet found here.
