A Zn mine originally owned by Cominco Ltd. & Dresser Industries, Inc. & operated by Cominco American Resources, Inc.

The mine and mill opened in 1968 and closed in 1994 (per U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service).

The mine is now part of Buick Mine, which is owned and operated by The Doe Run Company.

The MVT mineralization in the Magmont Mine is confined to the so-called Buick embayment which is a basement structure between the Precambrian high to the west and several Precambrian knobs to the east. The deposit was discovered in 1962, mining began in 1968, and production continued until 1996. During its operating history, approximately 1.7 Mt. of Pb, 0.2 Mt. of Zn, and 51,318 t of Cu were produced, with reported average grades of 7.3 wt% Pb, 1.0 wt% Zn, and 0.26 wt% Cu. Mineralization is restricted to the ∼87 m thick Bonneterre Dolomite and occurs within three subparallel N-S-trending zones extending up to ∼610 m in an E-W direction. Ore is distributed among four stratigraphic horizons, designated A through D, each up to ∼18 m thick. Horizon A extends from the base of the Davis Formation to the base of the slumped False Davis shales; horizon B from the base of the slumped False Davis shales to the Silty Marker; horizon C from the Silty Marker to the Upper Reef; and horizon D from the Upper Reef to the Lower Reef. Horizon ‘B' is the principal ore-bearing interval, whereas horizons C and D contain low-grade, irregularly distributed mineralization and were not mined.
