The Boschi dam on the Aveto stream was built in the 1920s to power the Salsominore hydroelectric power plant (Ferriere, Piacenza Province). It forms the homonymous artificial reservoir, about 2 km long and up to 30 m deep, along the border between the metropolitan city of Genoa (Liguria) and the province of Piacenza (Emilia-Romagna). The name is derived from the hamlet of Boschi, in the municipal territory of Ferriere.
