Beside the road a small quarry has been levelled to provide a parking place. However, the quarry face is evidently very unstable and abundant fallen material containing a variety of materials has formed heaps at the foot of the exposure. Minerals can also be seen in abundance as nodes or broken veins widely within the quarry face.

Detailed Mineral List:

ⓘ Calcite
Formula: CaCO3
Description: As well as both clear and white opaque rhomboid forms the calcite also occurs frequently, though in only small samples, as mamillary; mostly over galena, or as a surface coat on fluorite. In the mamillary and coat forms it often takes a yellowish tint in visible light and is particularly fluorescent under short wave UV appearing bright orange-yellow. Having observed this on a single sample I returned after dark and was able to pick out numerous other pieces. In one instance in a field of fluorite, one fluorite crystal approximately 5mm along the edge had been entirely replaced by fluorescent calcite.
ⓘ Cerussite
Formula: PbCO3
Description: A small number of elongated flattened crystals (see cerussite no.157 crystal model animation) to no more than 2mm observed in a cavity in distinctive cubes of flourite.
ⓘ Fluorite
Formula: CaF2
Description: Occurs as semi-transparent cubes with a slight green tint up to 10mm, opaque white cubes, clear cubes but often with a white surface coat, clear cubes with purple along the edges and through and through purple from pale lilac to almost black.
ⓘ Galena
Formula: PbS
Description: Mostly occurring in fluorite, but sometimes calcite, as isolated masses with poor crystal habit and no more than thumbnail size. Galena can be seen frequently in the quarry wall, with fluorite, as dispersed nodes or broken veins with no apparent sense of ordered alignment.
ⓘ Goethite
Formula: Fe3+O(OH)
Description: Non-crystalline masses to 30mm often with a partial covering of yellow limonite.
