The site is approximately 50m x 50m in a wooded area that now occupies the corner of the field where the mine is shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1886 (see associated) and slopes northward down to a small stream.

In the south-east corner is a small shaft collar with several associated tips that are little more than hummocks. Directly downslope of this is the entrance to the level marked on older Ordnance Survey maps. A channel has, probably within the last 20 years, been dug to partly drain the level making the low portal visible. The portal is maybe 15m from the stream and possibly connects with the previously mentioned shaft.

A further shaft collar and large tip of material is sited in the north-west corner with the toe of the tip material reaching the stream. This appears to contain no metal minerals.

There is no indication of buildings, but there does appear to be a raised bank corresponding to a rectangle marked on the later OS maps in the south-west corner.

And sometimes fortune smiles down. A large tree had fallen, lifting its roots and exposing a small mound of rock that would otherwise have remained hidden under mosses. Sifting through only by hand quickly produced a selection of obviously dense pieces, some coated with well formed clear quartz crystals to 10mm long, some but not all with a brown coat, sometimes with yellow 'limonitic' mottling. These were rich in a mix of pyrite and chalcopyrite, the manganese being more limited and the malachite as small zones of microscopic beads with radiating needle crystals. However, if this is an extension of the Brookwood / Emma lodes there is no evidence of the purple fluorite, nor of the various copper secondaries that are so abundant at those mines. Nov. 2020.
