Passo di Vallés (Passo Vallés), Falcade, Provincia di Belluno, Veneto, Italia
In the area around Valles Pass it is possible to observe the contact among the Permian volcanites of the Athesian porphyric platform (occurring to the north of the pass), the Val Gardena sandstones (occurring on the pass), and the evaporitic rocks of the Bellerophon formation (occurring to the south of the pass, at the foot of Cima Valles or Venegia).
A small copper mineralisation is present in the Permian volcanites not far from Rifugio Passo Valles.
The most interesting area is located to the south of the pass, where the gypsum layers of the Bellerophon formation crop out. Although it is here indicated for the municipal territory of Falcade only, it actually extends to the southwest (Primiero San Martino di Castrozza, Trentino), in the badlands included in the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Natural Park.
