Worked for cobalt during the 1930s and early 1940s.

Massive sphaerocobaltite was relatively abundant here and for some time even mined as a cobalt ore.
The locality is also known for superb heterogenite specimens in large shiny botryoidal masses.
More recently (early 2000) some very fine brochantite specimens were found.

Located 15 km West of Kambove.

Mineral List

12 valid minerals.

Detailed Mineral List:

ⓘ Baryte
Formula: BaSO4
✪ Brochantite
Formula: Cu4(SO4)(OH)6
Description: Bright green sharp needles to 5 cm in open divergent sprays on heterogenite matrix.
ⓘ Calcite
Formula: CaCO3
Colour: pink
Description: The RMMA in Tervuren (Belgium) holds a specimen (number 2217) donated in 1945 by the UMHK.
ⓘ Carrollite
Formula: CuCo2S4
Description: The carrollite is found here as little specks in massive spherocobaltite. It seems obvious that the spherocobaltite is the direct result of the weathering of the carrollite.
ⓘ Chalcocite
Formula: Cu2S
ⓘ Chalcopyrite
Formula: CuFeS2
ⓘ Chrysocolla
Formula: Cu2-xAlx(H2-xSi2O5)(OH)4 · nH2O, x < 1
ⓘ Covellite
Formula: CuS
✪ Heterogenite
Formula: Co3+O(OH)
ⓘ Malachite
Formula: Cu2(CO3)(OH)2
ⓘ Quartz
Formula: SiO2
ⓘ Spherocobaltite
Formula: CoCO3
Colour: Pink
Description: Massive spherocobaltite was so abundant in places that it was mines as cobalt ore. The RMMA in Tervuren (Belgium) holds many specimens.
