Several occurrences of topaz-bearing orthogneiss with the "Monotonous Series" ('Monotone Serie'). The topaz was only found in creek sediments (Laimbach, Gottsbach).
The orthogneiss is peraluminous and contains up to 2760 ppm F. Petrologically it is similar to the Gföhl Gneiss and the Moldanubian granulites. Geringer et al. (2024) consider it as a more fractionated equivalent of the Gföhl Gneiss.
Stockinger et al. (2021) propose the name "Laimbach Gneiss".

Geringer et al. (2024) propose to name "the studied orthogneiss Laimbach Orthogneiss in the rank of a lithodeme (NACSN, 2005), after the locality Laimbach am Ostrong (48°19′01″N; 15°07′19″E), which is located centrally with respect to the occurrences of this gneiss".

Minerals listed are all rock-forming.
