A nickel prospect on Yellow Aster Butte. The ore occurred in a silica-carbonate rock hosted in serpentine. It was developed by several short adits and cuts. The ore assayed from 0.25% to 1.25% nickel.
Structure: Intense Local Shearing
Tectonics: Cascade Volcanic Arc
Deposit: Deposit is in silica-carbonate rock that contains garnierite and sparsely disseminated fine-grained pyrite. Hydrothermally altered serpentinized peridotite hosts ore
Deposit type: Massive sulfide, Besshi (Japanese deposits)
Development: From 1909-1918 property was held As unpatented claims by mount baker gold, copper, & tin co. More recently, promising outcrops have been staked and restaked by several parties; however, little, if any, exploration work was done.
Geology: Host rock consists of massive and highly sheared serpentine that forms large lenticular bodies in greenstone of the chilliwack formation. A tectonic emplacement is presumed, As the chilliwack formation is younger than the yello W aster complex
