Vatnet kvartsbrudd, Bodø, Nordland, Norge
A hydrothermal quartz deposit that was mapped and core-drilled in 1961. The quartz occurs as a linse-shaped body with a NS orientation. An annual production of 12.000 tons is reported. The quartz was transported to Hopen, some 5 km to the south, were it was sorted and shipped. In 1993 an estimated reserve of 200.000 tons of quartz were found. All in all, the deposit contained ca. 550.000 tons of quartz.
