The Try Again prospect is located on the southbank of Lemon Creek at a point on the Lemon Creek road about 3.2 kilometres from its junction with the Nelson-Nakusp Highway, about 8 kilometres south of Slocan, British Columbia.
The following quote is from B.C. Government site “Minfile”- Minfile No. 082FNW 192, current to 2001:
“A quartz-pegmatite within granite of the Middle Jurassic Nelson intrusions contains disseminated allanite and possibly fergusonite. A selected sample assayed 0.04 per cent uranium (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1955).”
Comment by Giles Peatfield regarding the locality:
Numerous publications refer to the Tryagain claim; the correct spelling is Try Again.
Comments by Giles Peatfield regarding some of the minerals listed:
Allanite: This was reported by Lang (1951), Peck (1956), Lang, et al. (1962) and Traill (1970), but with no analytical data. It is considered valid for the locality.
Feldspar: Thompson (1953) mentioned that “The mineral [fergusonite] contains a small amount of admixed red feldspar.”
Fergusonite: Thompson (1953) described how this mineral was identified: “The mineral is in the metamict state but on ignition the structure was restored and a x-ray powder pattern in exact agreement with that of ignited fergusonite from Ytterby, Sweden, was obtained. The mineral gives a positive blowpipe test for uranium.” The Pacific Museum of Earth at the University of British Columbia has a specimen (No. 2348), which may in fact be Thompson’s original material.
