The deposit, discovered in 2009, is still in exploration and not in production. At present, the deposit has estimated reserves of 89,950 t WO3 with a grade of 0.776 %. The strata exposed in the mining district are mainly the lower Permian Sanmianjing and Erlitu formations and Quaternary sediments. The Sanmianjing Formation is composed of tuff, silt-slate, sandstone, and conglomerate, and the Erlitu Formation consists of tuff, andesite, and sedimentary tuff.

The Narenwula deposit (89950 t WO3 @ 0.78 %, 26,700 t Zn @ 1.23 %, 8100 t Pb @ 1.06 %, and 3100 t Cu @ 1.51 %), located in the eastern Inner Mongolia, is a large-scale quartz-vein type W polymetallic deposit in NE China. The hydrothermal process can be divided into four stages: stage 1 is dominated by wolframite, and represents the dominant stage of W mineralization; stage 2 features the development of coexisting wolframite, pyrite, arsenopyrite, and chalcopyrite; stage 3 is the predominant stage of sulfide mineralization; and stage 4 is characterized by the occurrence of quartz, carbonate, fluorite, and minor amounts of pyrite. The Narenwula ore-concentrated area within the southern Great Xing’an Range hosts the large Narenwula deposit along with four medium tungsten deposits (Baishitouwa, Shazigou, Tantoushan, and Sansheng). The exposed strata include Proterozoic to early Paleozoic granulite, leptite, slate, metasandstone, limestone, schist, and phyllite, and Lower Permian and Jurassic sedimentary clastic rocks, volcaniclastic rocks, and volcanic rocks. Granitoids in the region can be divided into four periods: the Late Permian granitoids are widespread and primarily comprising quartz diorite and granodiorite; a Triassic granite pluton is distributed in the southwestern section; the Early–Middle Jurassic granitoids, composed of biotite and fine-grained granite, mainly occur in the eastern part; and the Late Jurassic granitoids dominated by granite porphyry and monzogranite are pervasive in the western and central parts.
