Köppen climate type:
The Ulandryk mineralized cluster/district is situated in the marginal part of the Chuya-Kholzun Uplift and is associated with a Devonian volcanic center. The center comprises a central caldera (referred to as the Aksai Caldera) and several peripheral (satellitic) paleovolcanos, such as the Oyum paleovolcano.
The Ulandryk iron oxide-Cu-REE zone is spatially associated with the Ulandryk potassic granite stock and extends in total for about 6.6 km being 1–1.2 km wide overprinting both the potassic granite and the host Devonian volcanic rocks. The zone comprises at least four thick (typically 60–100 m, up to 200 m) and extended (1.4–6 km) linear paralleling steep-dipping zones of breccias, in which the rock and quartz fragments are cemented by fine-grained quartz-sericite-hematite material, and yet wider quartz stockwork zones, the latter containing only minor to trace hematite.
The metal endowment of the Ulandryk zone was estimated at 44 Mt Fe2O3 and 1.2 Mt Cu (average 0.3 % Cu at 0.1 % Cu cut-off) to a depth of 150 m (Russian P1 and P2 resource categories), and at 61 Mt Fe2O3 and 3.7 Mt Cu (average 0.5–0.7 % Cu in different blocks) to a depth (400 m) (P2 and P3 resource categories).
