The Kleiwarenfabriek ("clay products factory") was best known for the production of white bricks. Because of the Maas clay, many clay goods factories were established along the rivers in the Netherlands around 1900, most of them along the borders. A number of them disappeared after the Second World War due to gravel extraction. Others were abolished through progressive merger processes. The Clay Products Factory has been closed since 2013. The chimney, from 1904, has been retained, but the site has been redeveloped.
