In the hills above the small village of Ikiss, a basalt layer is dug by hand in search of quartz geodes. The workings range from small pits a few meters deep to tunnels up to a few tens of meters long.

The quartz ranges from colorless to amethyst, with frequent goethite inclusions, sometimes sticking out of the quartz crystals. The goethite is occasionally much more developped, forming sprays up to a few centimeters. More rarely, baryte clusters are present in the geodes.

The locality was visited in November 2022 by the Young Mineral Collectors trip to Morocco led by Tomasz Praszkier.
