Hematite (red iron ore) occurrence on the left bank of the Nizhnyaya Tunguska River.
Czekanowski A.P. (1896):
On the left bank of the river, near Kholak (Russ. Холак), there is a flat hill with exposed screes of fine rubble. It comes a 'greywacke' (tuff) out of this scree, including an irregular shelf, partly black, partly red, consisting of magnetite and red iron ore accompanied by calcite (perhaps from greywacke). Mgnetite finely crystalline, forming small veinlets and inclusions in rocks. Also veinlets of good, translucent, coarse-grained hard calcite.
According to the diary, outcrop of the ore has up to 5 fathom width (approx.10m).
