Late on the night of September 2, 2015 over Sarçiçek Village, in Turkey, the inhabitants observed a very bright fireball and recorded on several video security cameras.
The following day, it was found in the surrounding streets and fields many very small meteorites.
Scientists who arrived next days in the city identified these meteorites as
a Howardite and numerous pieces were found in the following months; one of the largest weighed over 680 grams.
Howardites are brecciated meteorites composed for some parts of eucrite and diogenite.
They could originate from the asteroid 4 Vesta.
One distinctive characteristic of achondritic meteorites, of which Howardites are a part, is their glassy brown fusion crust.
