Arhbalou (Aghbalou) is a small town approximately 51.5 km (32 mi) W of the town of Midelt.
Unusual fluorites, mostly floaters, but also very interesting crystals on matrix have been coming from near Arhbalou since 2002. The crystals (or the crystal aggregates) are up to 15-20 cm in size and colourless to cognac-coloured, but particularly striking in ink-neon blue. Quite a few of the crystals are disturbed in their growth. Transitional shapes from bevelled cubes to incompletely formed octahedra are interesting - as if the crystal has not yet been able to decide on its final shape. As of October 2004 this little or hardly known fluorite deposit was abundant, but not currently being worked on.
The geology of the area is Permo-Triassic, up to several hundred metres thick red sandstones, clays and marls, which are separated from the Lias by a 100 m thick limestone bank.
