Köppen climate type:
A pegmatite mine situated just to NE of Harts Range, 4km south of Jinka Station homestead.
Located 21 kilometres east of the Huckitta Station turn-off. (A Fossicking Guide to the Northern Territory, Thompson D., 1986) states the deposit is part of a road quarry 0.8 kilometres north of the Plenty Highway. The deposit is approximately 0.8 kilometres south of the highway, where workings can be seen. The site is a road quarry, citrine quartz fossicking location, and historic small mica mine at the western end of the quarry.
Pale yellow citrine quartz has been found here in transparent pods in a 150 metre long quartz vein, that rises about 10 metres above the surrounding plain. Citrine quartz fragments could also be found in the quartz gravel surrounding the hill. A visit by the authors of the 1986 reference found no citrine quartz, but do include a picture of a rutilated pale-yellow citrine quartz specimen from the location. Exploration company maps also note several citrine quartz locations in remote areas of the Jervois region to the north-east.
At least in the mid 1980's, moderate sized muscovite books could be collected from the mica mine's dumps. Beryl is reported from an un-named mine 2.4 kilometres to the west, and 3 kilometres south of the highway, which could possibly be the old Ajax or Ophir mica mines.
