Habit: Granular to earth aggragates replacing millerite crystals enclosed in calcite
Colour: olive green
Fluorescence: None observed
Description: Found in two geodes which consisted of thick chalcedony shells completely filled with calcite.
ⓘ Malachite
Formula: Cu2(CO3)(OH)2
ⓘ Millerite
Formula: NiS
ⓘ Pyrite
Formula: FeS2
ⓘ Quartz
Formula: SiO2
✪ Sphalerite
Formula: ZnS
Habit: Rude, often distorted tetrahedral crystals
Colour: Submetallic black
Fluorescence: None observed
Description: Usually one large single crystal, up to 4 cm on edge is found in each geode.
✪ Szomolnokite
Formula: FeSO4 · H2O
Habit: 1 to 2 mm diameter rounded crystals or cavernous elongated bipyramidal crystals
Colour: bright yellow
Description: Szomolnokite is known from this locality from one 20 cm diameter geode where it occurred in shells of goethite that made up the former surface of 2 to 3 mm oxidized pyrite crystals. Szomolnokite crystals also occurred on the surrounding colorless quartz crystals.
