The Bouarfa open pit mine produced more than 1.5 million tons of Mn during the period between 1923 and 1962. This mine belongs to the Jurassic structures of the northern flank of the Eastern High Atlas, which express the passage zone of the North High Atlas fault. This mining deposit extends over more than 5 km and a width of 1.5 km with a thickness of mineralized layers of 60 m average, an average grade of 2%, allows us to estimate its reserves at more than 25 million tons not exploited.
Types and forms of mineralization at the Bouarfa Mine:
A: mineralizations of the dolomites and basic limestones
B: stratiform mineralizations of the Hamraouate Series
C: body mineralizations and veins of substitution
D: Mineralizations of the Aïn-Beida series
E and F: Vein mineralizations.
