The deposit had proved reserves of 1,809,683 tons Rb2O, 199,140 tons Nb2O5, 1,155,014 tons Li2O, and 79,656 tons Cs2O. The exposed strata in the mining region consist of the Xiaoguanzhuang plagiogneiss and Qiuhuayu gneiss of the Archean, gray–green tuffaceous sandstones, quartz sandstones, and conglomerates of the Paleoproterozoic Changzhougou Formation. The magmatic rocks in this area are the Madi intrusion, which is an elliptical body extending NW with an area of about 5.35 km2.

The Madi granitic pluton, the main intrusive body in the mining area, covers ∼ 5 km2, with a NW40°-trending long axis of ∼ 4,200 m and a western short axis of ∼ 1,700 m. It displays distinct lithofacies and alteration zones, which from bottom to top consist of light red medium- to fine-grained granite, gray porphyritic alkali-feldspar granite, and gray porphyritic amazonite-bearing alkali-feldspar granite. Additionally, iron-manganese nodules are locally developed within the gray porphyritic alkali-feldspar granite. Rb mineralization occurs predominantly in the alkali feldspar granite and amazonite-bearing alkali-feldspar granite with Rb content increasing upward from deeper to shallower levels.
