Within the Eastern Desert, the leucocratic peraluminous granites of the Igla intrusion occur as small stocks and apophyses, appearing as circular and ovoid outcrops on the surface. These granites formed in zones of transitional faulting arising from tension following orogenic compressional events. Characterized by fine-grained to porphyritic textures, the Igla granites are classified into two sub-varieties: an albite-rich variety with a white color and a K-feldspar-rich variety with a buff color.
